  • Primary Materials: Tanks are primarily constructed from 316L Stainless Steel for superior resistance to the mildly corrosive nature of urea. For smaller applications, High-Density Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) with UV inhibitors is available.
  • ASME Compliance: All vessels meet the latest edition of ASME Section VIII, Division 1 for Unfired Pressure Vessels.
  • Structural Stability: Features heavy-duty saddles and reinforced foundations to ensure the long-term integrity of the installation.

II. Thermal Management & Stability

  • Freezing Protection: Essential for urea concentrations (typically 32.5% to 50%).
    • 32.5% (DEF): Crystallizes at ~31°F.
    • 50% Industrial Urea: Requires a minimum maintained temperature of 80°F to prevent "creeping" crystallization.
  • Insulation: Minimum 2-inch closed-cell polyisocyanurate or mineral wool with a weatherproof aluminum or stainless steel jacket.
  • Heat Tracing: Self-regulating electric heat trace cables to prevent "salting out."
  • Hydrolysis Prevention: Integrated High-Temperature Alarms and automated cut-offs prevent urea from decomposing into ammonia and CO2 (which begins at temperatures above 110°F).

III. Advanced Digital Instrumentation

  • Level Sensing: Non-contact ultrasonic or radar transmitters preferred to avoid "urea scale" buildup.
  • Temperature Monitoring: Redundant RTDs (bottom and mid-tank) integrated into the PLC to manage precise heating cycles.
  • Dosing Supply: Submerged suction lances ensure a constant supply of liquid to dosing skids.

IV. Redundant Safety & Mitigation Layers

  • Pressure Management: Conservation vents and manways designed for easy inspection and periodic cleaning of solids.
  • Seal Integrity: Utilization of EPDM or PTFE gaskets (avoiding Viton which can degrade in urea).
